my opinion matters

Meh. Boring, as expected. Some of the speeches were good, like Christian Bale and Melissa Leo. And when they auto-tuned Ron and Hermione, that was hilarious. And Kirk Douglas was really funny. Oh, and Aaron Sorkin won! Huzzah! But, like I said, overall it was meh. And WAY too long. But that's normal. I think the problem I have is that it's a little too predictable this year - no big surprises. Not like the year with Avatar and The Hurt Locker , because that year had drama and suspense. At least Natalie Portman won, which made me happy, but her speech was a little... something. Okay, so I spoke too soon. Best Picture went to The King's Speech , which is definitely a surprise. It makes me happy though, because I bet that movie was really great. Haven't seen it yet, but Colin Firth is amazing and Geoffrey Rush is incredible, so I'm sure it's great. Huzzah for surprises and also huzzah that The Social Network didn't win!

Okay, so I have decided that I don't care about the Academy Awards this year because, in my opinion, none of the movies are worth me caring about. So, instead of predicting who I think will win, I think I'm going to list the movies that will make me mad if they win. Much more fun! To be fair to some of the films, I haven't seen them, so I won't include those in my "ugh" predictions. I got irritated with the films I actually saw so I stopped watching. I will also not be blogging live during the show, but will have a post-Oscars blog that I'm sure you will read. :) Here goes! Best Picture - The Fighter . This movie was not worth all the hype. If it wins, that would be a travesty. I am honestly pulling for Toy Story 3 and Black Swan , but I think everyone thinks it'll be The Social Network , which is whatever. Just not Mark Wahlberg. I'm kind of over music. And movies. And television. None of it is any good at the moment. All you have to do is look at the Grammy performances this year to see that current popular music is just plain horrible and hard to listen to. I mean, I like some of it, of course, but Muse sucks and so does Arcade Fire and Justin Beiber and Usher and Miranda Lambert and even Lady Gaga sucks now. The best part was when Jaden Smith rapped, and it wasn't even good. And why is it okay that Lady Gaga blatantly ripped off Madonna's "Express Yourself"? Why is that okay? Why was it okay when Christina Aguilera ripped off the video? Music is just plain disappointing lately, so I listen to the 90's station on satellite radio. Television is even worse. Awful reality shows like The Bachelor are still on, who knows why, and you still have awful shows like SVU with stupid Mariska Hargitay, who is just plain awful. And shows like CSI: Miami and the new Criminal Minds and stupid ne...

Again, these are preliminary, as I have yet to see all the films. - Best Picture: I assume that The Social Network will win, and I hate that there are 10 nominated films. It won't be The Fighter , Inception , The Kids Are All Right , Toy Story 3 . Oscar nominations came out today, hooray! My early predictions will be announced soon. I will continue to not choose the movie I know will win, and instead choose the movie/role I thought was the best. Which means, once again, my average will suffer. :)

I love watching the Globes because it's not just movies but also television, so you definitely get the best of both worlds. I did not make specific predictions, but if you've read my previous posts, you know who I want to win. Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, etc. I bet that Boardwalk Empire also wins, because it's amazing. I really hope Aaron Sorkin wins for The Social Network , but don't care if that film wins anything else. You Don't Know Jack should win, but I don't know because it's the only mini-series/made for tv movie I saw. Annette Bening should win for The Kids Are All Right , and definitely Toy Story 3 . If Burlesque wins for something, I'll be very happy. I hope Glee doesn't win anything because I don't like it, but whatever. I know better than that and I'm sure it will win. I didn't watch the Critic's Choice Awards, because it's usually really boring. Instead, I decided to just look at the winners for a sneak peek at who the Globes winners might be. The Social Network won best picture, which is fine, I guess. It was good or whatever, but I think Black Swan was better. Although, for mass appeal, I think The Social Network was the right one - more people have seen it and it's about something relavent and happening. Whatever. Natalie Portman and Christian Bale won, which makes me extremely happy. The King's Speech won a bunch, and I haven't seen that one yet, but I'm not surprised. Colin Firth is awesome. Toy Story 3 won best animated, and if that goes any differently at the Globes, I will be surprised. The other nominated animated films were good and all, but I don't think any of them kept my attention like that one did.
