The Golden Globes: 2011
I love watching the Globes because it's not just movies but also television, so you definitely get the best of both worlds. I did not make specific predictions, but if you've read my previous posts, you know who I want to win. Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, etc. I bet that Boardwalk Empire also wins, because it's amazing. I really hope Aaron Sorkin wins for The Social Network, but don't care if that film wins anything else. You Don't Know Jack should win, but I don't know because it's the only mini-series/made for tv movie I saw. Annette Bening should win for The Kids Are All Right, and definitely Toy Story 3. If Burlesque wins for something, I'll be very happy. I hope Glee doesn't win anything because I don't like it, but whatever. I know better than that and I'm sure it will win. Alec Baldwin should win, but he's won a bunch already, so I wouldn't be surprised if he loses this year. Best Picture Musical/Comedy will probably be The Kids are All Right, and I will be sad if Black Swan doesn't win for drama. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that The Social Network will take it, and I think that's a mistake. Unless, of course, The Black Swan wins the Oscar, in which case I no longer care. I haven't seen it, but Colin Firth will win for The King's Speech - I just know it. So those are the extent of my predictions. I didn't list it out this year because I haven't seen all the films yet - I will definitely have it in list form for the Academy Awards, I promise. Here goes!
I am very happy that Ricky Gervais is the host again - he is hysterical. The jokes are particularly funny this year, which rocks. He even made a LOST joke, which always make me happy. First award out of the gate is Christian Bale for The Fighter, which is awesome. He was amazing in that movie, I swear.
Ultimately, I was right about all of my predictions. Natalie Portman, The Kids Are All Right, The King's Speech, Glee (unfortunately), Boardwalk Empire, The Social Network, and, like I predicted to my dismay, The Black Swan did not win for best drama. I am disappointed. You can see the full list of winners on, lots of websites, but imdb.com is always my choice because it's awesome. I did okay this year predicting, but The Social Network better not win the Oscar. Although now that I think about it, Natalie Portman winning the Oscar for her role in it would be enough for me - she was amazing and carried the whole movie. So, I'm okay with it. Everything else I pretty much guessed, so that feels good. I am a good predictor. Lol.
I will see The King's Speech soon, I hope. Apparently it rocks. Hooray for Christian Bale and Natalie Portman! Huzzah! And hooray for Aaron Sorkin! He is amazing.
