I am currently rewatching the season premiere of LOST season 6, and I have noticed a few extra things that I missed the first time around. First off, apparently they aren’t still in 1977. I totally missed that scene the first time – they show up at the Swan wreckage after Desmond blew it up. So are they in 2005 or whenever that was? Or have they caught up to the same time period as John Locke and Sun and Richard? Second, I guess Jacob really is dead – but what was he? He could be just like Richard maybe and just never ages, but then how does he have magical special powers and can bring people to the island but can die that easily – because let’s face it, it was way too easy to kill him and Mr. X Smoke Monster Man should have been able to do that forever ago. Speaking of people who die really easily, let’s talk about Jacob’s people who find John Locke’s body. Well, last night was the season premiere of the final season of LOST. I don’t really have much to say about it, but I will say this. There is nothing I hate more than a TV show that makes it seem like some discovery is a huge deal even though the audience totally knew it already. For example, we already knew that John Locke was in the casket and his body was inhabited by the smoke monster aka Mr. X. This was not surprising. At all. For me, it was also not surprising that there are now alternate timelines, one of which is on the island after the explosion and the other that restarts as if the crash never happened. I figured this out forever ago, for real. I do like that it seems as though everyone’s life is shittier now that they didn’t crash on the island – except Charlie, because being in jail is better than being dead, at least in my opinion. But Rose will be dying soon probably, and Jin is going to prison or something, and John Locke is still very sad, which makes me very sad. But a...

Not only are the Academy Award nominations announced today, but the season premiere of LOST is tonight!!! I will be at work until around seven, but expect lots of posts after then about the premiere and the noms! Hooray!!!

Okay, first of all, the Grammys sucked this year. Hard. Harder than last year, which was pretty much impossible. The performances were lame overall and off-key, and they only presented a handful of awards. Lady Gaga and Elton John started the night off with a basically lame performance – they’re both great but it was dull. I also don’t understand why they give out so few awards – I had no idea Beyonce won six awards until I read the paper this morning, and that’s crazy. I looked forward to the Oscars in March, because it hardly ever disappoints – unlike the Grammys. Ugh.

Now, I am not as obsessed with the Grammys as I am with the Globes or the Oscars or even the Emmys. As a result, my predictions are usually WAY off because I pick the songs and albums and artists I like the best rather than which was the most successful or what the most people liked. But I don’t care. I am not concerned if my percentage of picking sucks. Whatever. So, here are my predictions based on my personal taste – maybe I’ll win one or two this year! Album of the Year: Nominees are Beyonce, The Black Eyed Peas, Dave Matthews, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift. First off, no way Dave Matthews wins because Dave Matthews blows and everybody knows it. Disturbingly, Entertainment Weekly seems to think he will win. Yuck. In my opinion, it HAS to be Lady Gaga. She is the most entertaining and I believe she’s had the most singles off the album, unless Taylor Swift has more. So maybe it goes to Taylor, but I pick Lady Gaga because I love her and she is amazing. Song of the Year: Nominees are “S...

Right now, I’m at 16/17 with my predictions – see the below posts for more info. UGH The Hangover won best comedy just now. 16/18. I mean, I kind of knew that It’s Complicated wasn’t going to win, but a girl can wish. Surprisingly, I think the funniest presenter was Arnold Schwarzenegger, and he was absolutely hysterical – and burned Jay Leno pretty hard, too. Sandra Bullock won for The Blind Side, which was one of my favorite performances this year, and her acceptance speech was like her dress – pretty lame. 17/19. I picked Robert Downey Jr. for Sherlock Holmes because I like him – not very scientific on my part, but I didn’t get to see the nominated movies except (500) Days of Summer which was terrible. Best speech of the night goes to Robert Downey Jr., because he is hysterical and amazing and I love him forever. 18/20. Jeff Bridges was my guess for Best Actor, and he won. 19/21. I really enjoyed Tobey Maguire’s performance in Brothers, but Jeff Bridges was going to win and everyone...

For the first part of the awards, see the post below. I have now successfully predicted 8/9 awards. But, alas, thems the breaks. I gave up on Michael C. Hall and I shouldn’t have. I chose not to predict any of the mini series because I didn’t see any of them. And ugh, Drew Barrymore’s speech was tweeky and pathetic and lame. Up In The Air got Best Screenplay, and the guy who accepted it looked like Andrew W.K. Weird. 9/10. And Alec Baldwin, again, won for 30 Rock. Even though I’ve only seen one episode of the show, it’s so easy to predict his win. 10/11. Best Foreign Language Film was The White Ribbon from Germany, which I seriously predicted at the last minute, so I’m going to count it as 11/12. It’s usually Germany or France, to be honest with you.
