The Golden Globes: Part Two

For the first part of the awards, see the post below. I have now successfully predicted 8/9 awards. But, alas, thems the breaks. I gave up on Michael C. Hall and I shouldn’t have. I chose not to predict any of the mini series because I didn’t see any of them. And ugh, Drew Barrymore’s speech was tweeky and pathetic and lame. Up In The Air got Best Screenplay, and the guy who accepted it looked like Andrew W.K. Weird. 9/10. And Alec Baldwin, again, won for 30 Rock. Even though I’ve only seen one episode of the show, it’s so easy to predict his win. 10/11.

Best Foreign Language Film was The White Ribbon from Germany, which I seriously predicted at the last minute, so I’m going to count it as 11/12. It’s usually Germany or France, to be honest with you. His acceptance speech was nice because sometimes when someone speaks very little English, it’s often really nice things. The music came on way to quickly yet again.

Mad Men won again for Best Drama, which was predictable, and brings me to 12/13. Pretty good. I should probably watch that show at some point. OMG Chloe Sevigny won for Big Love!!!! OMG!!!! I really didn’t think she had a chance in hell, but way to go – it makes me really happy when a show I love gets recognized – especially a character like Nikki who is perfect. 13/14.

Thank goodness!! Christoph Waltz won! Huzzah! It was seriously one of the best performances I’ve ever seen in a film in a long long time. 14/15. I’m doing pretty good. Waltz’s speech was great and adorable and it’s impressive how he was so creepy in Inglourious Basterds but so cute in real life.

“I like a drink as much as the next man. Unless the next man is Mel Gibson.” HILARIOUS, Ricky Gervais, HILARIOUS.

I am very pleased to announce that James Cameron won for Best Director for Avatar. It is the future of film and Cameron was honored appropriately – and I hope he is similarly honored by the Academy. With any luck, he will be. I can’t even talk about Avatar because it is THAT good. His speech was okay, but I have this feeling that he’s a total jerk. Maybe not, but that’s the sense that I get, anyway. Glee won Best Comedy, which is amazing because I wasn’t totally sure about it – but then again, it’s different and it’s new. It’s not really that good, though. 16/17.

Opening a new post.
