My Recent Thoughts About LOST
I was nervous about the final season of LOST because I had a feeling that it was going to be a huge and massive disappointment. But actually, although there have been a few episodes that sucked it hard, but two in particular were great. Not surprisingly, they were the episodes about Locke and Ben, and they’re my favorite characters. But they were also the episodes where you find out [SPOILER ALERT] that the numbers are associated with the six candidates – you also find out what a candidate is. And in Ben’s episode you find out that everyone who has been touched by Jacob can’t die. BANANAS. I also love the new Richard Alpert, because he’s scared all the time and confused, and Jack is the crazy unpredictable one. I absolutely love it.
So who can’t die? Kate (Jacob touched her on the nose when she was trying to steal that lunchbox), Sawyer (when he was writing the letter to Sawyer), Sayid (when Nadia died), Locke (when he was pushed out of the building), Sun & Jin (at their wedding), Jack (at the hospital with the candy bar), Hurley (on the shoulder in the car), and presumably Richard Alpert. I wonder why he can’t age, though. Maybe that’s what it is. It’s not dying and not aging either. So it’s Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Locke, Sun, Jin, Jack, Hurley, and Richard. I’m pretty positive that Ilana (the girl with the stupid vest that looks like that one girl from American Idol) hasn’t been touched by him, and the proof for that is Jacob was wearing gloves when he saw her in that one flashback. So it should get pretty interesting.
Speaking of that Ilana girl, how dumb is her outfit? I mean, she got on the Ajira flight knowing that she was going to the island, and who in their right mind wears a tight and pointless vest, black dress pants, and chunky heels? Retarded. You would be dressed like John Locke, with some utility pants or something and layers. But whatever. I also hate how Sun was dressed – way too formal – and she’d been to the island before, she knew what to expect!
My question is, what is the flash sideways? It isn’t just what would have happened if the plane didn’t crash, because everything is all different and it’s sort of obnoxious. So then maybe it’s what would have happened if Jacob hadn’t interfered in anyone’s life. I think that might make sense because Ben’s dad talks about how they DID join Dharma and go to the island, but they left. And Hurley won the lottery, presumably with the numbers, because why else would he have won? Weird. So it must be what would have happened with their lives if Jacob hadn’t screwed them up. I’m curious to see what Sawyer’s flash sideways is, because it should be WAY different because he won’t have this crazy vengeance. Who knows.
Anyway, my point is that this season is better than I thought it would be. The ending will still be disappointing, though. I know it. There’s nothing they can do to make me happy, I really don’t think so. I fear that the ending will be a “twenty years later” thing and there will be a few of them still there and the kids will be there too – Ji Yeon, Aaron, Charlie, Jack’s kid. That would suck. Maybe it’s aliens. And I swear, I’m still clinging to purgatory until the end. I hope I’ll still be able to make a case for it when the show is over. I will write a book called I told you it was purgatory and nobody listened or something.
