Golden Globes Predictions: Film

Okay, I failed. I was not able to watch all of then nominated films before the award ceremony – I explained a little bit about this before, but the other part is the time just wasn’t there. But it WILL be for the Oscars. I WILL see them all. Anyway, here are my predictions for the film portion of the Globes:

Best Picture – Drama: Avatar will win. It has to. It is amazing. And I swear, if Up In The Air wins instead, I will be shocked and utterly saddened.

Best Performance by an Actress – Drama: Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side. For sure. Nobody else stands a chance.

Best Performance by an Actor – Drama: I didn’t get to see Crazy Heart, but I have a feeling Jeff Bridges gets it for sure.

Best Picture – Musical/Comedy: I personally believe It’s Complicated deserves the win, but we all know it probably won’t win. But if it’s The Hangover, that would be stupid. I want It’s Complicated.

Best Performance by an Actress – Musical/Comedy: Meryl Streep will win. She WILL WIN. Probably for Julie & Julia.

Best Performance by an Actor – Musical/Comedy: Unfortunately, the only one I saw was (500) Days of Summer, and he won’t win. Maybe Matt Damon? But then again, I should stick with who I like, and I like Robert Downey Jr. for Sherlock Holmes – because I bet that movie is awesome.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role: Mo’Nique has no competition here. She will win for Precious.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Christoph Waltz has no competition here at all. He will win for Inglorious Basterds. I swear I would even give him best actor.

Best Animated Film: Unfortunately, I don’t think Coraline will win, so my official guess is Up and that makes me sad.

Best Director: Everyone seems to think Kathryn Bigelow will win for The Hurt Locker, but I can’t picture James Cameron NOT winning, so against the odds, my vote is for James Cameron in Avatar.

Best Screenplay: I think Inglourious Basterds… but I’ll go with Up In The Air because it was funny and apparently was hard to make it into a film from a stream of consciousness book.

So those are my predictions for the film side of the Golden Globes – I think that I’ve got a good shot this year. Check again during the show for my updates!
