Personally, I find it extremely annoying when 9/11 comes around, yet again, and everyone starts talking about where they were and how it changed all of our lives forever. Whatever. I don't need to see the footage of the planes coming down 700 times to remember what happened. I remember it fine. And it didn't really change anything, it was just a tragedy. People like to pretend things that happened in their lives are more important than they actually are. But then I started thinking about it, and I think that 9/11 really did change my life. True, we probably would've gotten involved in a Middle East war regardless, but it definitely was the kick start. I enlisted in the Army on 7/15/2001, just two months before 9/11. My military career was supposed to be about one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer, free college, and that's about it. It was about the college money for me, and about the fact that both my parents were in the Army, and my grandfathers too. But most...

I have recently started reading some John Grisham, and finished reading and watching The Firm . One thing is interesting to me... In the book, the main character cheats on his wife and the firm tries to blackmail him but he works out a situation where he gets away with $8 million at the end and his wife never finds out. However, in the movie, he comes clean with his wife and there's a huge fight. It seemed like such a small detail to me at first, but then I started thinking about it. Plot devices are one thing, but there's plenty of plot to go around with the book, so why? I think it's because it's more palatable for the public to see that you can't get away with stuff like that. Unfortunately, that's what happened in the book, and if you're willing to believe he got away with the money at the end, it would make sense that he could get away with something as small as cheating on his wife. Again, I will say it. I love the Netflix instant queue. Netflix inflated their prices like crazy recently, but I don't think I will ever be able to give up the instant queue. As long as I have the internet (and something other than a netbook), I can watch awesome movies and awesome shows whenever I want. And I do, trust me. I am currently in the middle of Star Trek: TNG , Cheers , and Star Trek: Voyager. I also finished watching the first season of Switched at Birth . The movies on Netflix are... okay. But the tv shows are really where the awesomeness comes in. They recently added all of the former seasons of Mad Men , and I'm definitely looking forward to watching those again soon. Anyway, the reason I wanted to blog today is because of Cheers . Like everyone, I've seen a few random episodes of the show, but never seriously. This is my review: Meh. That pretty much sums up my experience watching the final Harry Potter film. I was well-prepared and I had read the final book about a month ago to make sure I would be able to make an accurate comparison. I think that was my mistake. As a result, I was bored. The whole first half of the movie was, basically, a giant bore. I don't really understand why everyone hated the first part of the movie - I thought it was great. Yeah, the parts with them in a tent were boring, but they were way worse in the book. That's what I like about the movies - they take the boring parts of the books and make them more interesting or, at least, funny. Unfortunately, the last film didn't do that well enough for me. Seriously, the best way to describe it is... meh. Once the battle started, I was really disappointed. This is my sister's review: This movie makes Part 1 worth seeing, which is high praise considering I fell asleep in theater for that sleeper.* Helps you remember that this is just the way the book felt, so many pages of FUCKING CAMPING. I love Star Trek . Especially The Next Generation , which I personally think is the best ever. Of course, I've never really watched the orginial, but that will change soon. Netflix, in their enduring wisdom, has jacked up their rates to make it so you can't have the instant queue and receive DVDs in the mail without paying out the ass. Whatever, I will keep my instant queue and will be super happy. My parents have been watching the live feeds for Big Brother for the last few seasons, and I always made fun of them because, well, it seems weird to want to watch random people all day. A little creepy, even. Unfortunately, I am now one of the creepy people. I decided to get the live feed because they were going to bring back old houseguests, and I hoped one of them would be Evil Dick. I was right, which is awesome. Unfortunately, he's already gone.
