Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two

This is my review:

Meh. That pretty much sums up my experience watching the final Harry Potter film. I was well-prepared and I had read the final book about a month ago to make sure I would be able to make an accurate comparison. I think that was my mistake. As a result, I was bored. The whole first half of the movie was, basically, a giant bore. I don't really understand why everyone hated the first part of the movie - I thought it was great. Yeah, the parts with them in a tent were boring, but they were way worse in the book. That's what I like about the movies - they take the boring parts of the books and make them more interesting or, at least, funny. Unfortunately, the last film didn't do that well enough for me. Seriously, the best way to describe it is... meh. Once the battle started, I was really disappointed. I thought they would show more fighting, and not some lame Voldemort plus Harry swirly black smoke monster. However, when they showed their faces melding together, that was awesome.

This is not to say I hated the film. I thought Snape was amazing and Ralph Fiennes was so good I actually felt bad for him that Harry wasn't really dead. Neville Longbottom was also super crazy good, and extremely believable. I usually like the adults better than the kids - but Neville was awesome. I wish Harry and Ron and Hermione were better actors.

Most of the things my sister stated (below) I agree with. However, I thought the Snape memory scene was perfect - although when he put the "tears" in the pensieve, there were a lot more than he got from Snape's eyes. Lame. And the Grey Lady part was stupid - a little creepy when she got mad, but it was too drawn out, I thought. They didn't do enough exposition to justify that scene being so long.

But, you know, it was okay. It was probably a good ending, even though I was enraged once again at J.K. Rowling for ending the book "19 years later" - as my boyfriend put it, they're wizards and they went through all that shit and what was their reward? Getting old. What a great ending (note the sarcasm). Also Karolyn, nice description of "sleeper." Totally accurate.

An interesting thing to me is an article in Entertainment Weekly that took a poll where people said which movies were the best and the order is 7.2, 3, 4, 5, 7.1, 6, 1, 2. I am very upset with this list. I agree that Azkaban is probably the best one, but I would definitely say that the first film is a close second, if not the best. And there is NO WAY the last movie is the best one, I mean... come on. And Half-Blood Prince is amazing! How could you not like that one? Yeah right, like Order of the Phoenix is better than Half-Blood Prince. I am so sure.

Anyway, it was fine. It wasn't good enough to give a complete review, which should be review enough.
