Grammys 2012 continued...

Watching Katy Perry perform, I'm thinking she has sour grapes about the divorce. In general, I enjoy Katy Perry - except that I think she sounds awful live because she can't really hit the high notes she thinks she can. Once she and Russell Brand announced they were getting divorced, I decided to side with Russell Brand. He is super funny and great - so in general, I think Katy Perry kind of sucks now. Yes, I am fickle and I don't care. They're celebrities - it's not like they're real people. :)

Okay. Look. I try not to be too judgmental... at least for people I like. And I like Adele a lot. But her performance was... weird. I remember when she performed "Someone Like You" - it was amazing and her tone and pitch were dead on. Tonight she did "Rolling in the Deep" and, well, it was off. Like, I guess she hit all of the notes and everything, but the tone of her voice sounds messed up. I know she had surgery on her vocal chords and this was her first live performance since the surgery, but... hmm. And her voice kind of sounded deep too - maybe it's a result of the surgery? I don't know. She is still great. Although I think she looks better with red hair - the blonde isn't as pretty with her face.

And, you know, I have never heard of Bon Iver, so how can he (they?) win a best new artist grammy? Lame. Nicki Minaj should have won, and she looked disappointed. But, I guess, it's like American Idol - the person who wins is often the person who needs the win, like Ruben and Fantastia and Taylor Hicks - the runner up doesn't need the show to make it. That's how I feel about Nicki Minaj - she's in like every song - she'll be fine. I still wanted her to win, though. That would've been cool.

Oops grammys - in the video where they show all the music people who died over the past year, they forgot Etta James. Oops. And by the way, I know I said the tribute to Whitney Houston would be stupid - but Jennifer Hudson did a really nice job. Classy. She didn't take too many liberties, and it was nice and simple.

Here is some awesome news from the grammy website - Betty White won a grammy for best spoken word album for her new book! Yay! AND even better than that, The Book of Mormon soundtrack won for Best Musical Theatre Album. Huzzah!

And OMG I love Nicki Minaj. She's like Lady Gaga for rap. Only not crazy. And funny. :) Her performance was beyond bizarre, but it was good. I think it was good - I hope that's her new song because it's like a sequel to "Roman's Revenge," which is my favorite song on her album.
