The Social Network
Aaron Sorkin is a genius. I have known that forever, as he wrote amazing things like A Few Good Men and The West Wing. This film was similar to that, especially with the fast talking awesomeness, but the problem was that the story itself was kind of a snooze, not to mention that Jesse Eisenberg is pretty obnoxious and not at all attractive. The story is pretty well-known already because Facebook is wicked popular, so there were no real surprises in the plotline. Overall, it was an okay movie. That's about all.
What's interesting is my favorite part about the film was Justin Timberlake. I can't believe I'm saying it, but he's not a terrible actor, and he's really funny. Shocking, I know. The movie was good, but it wasn't as good as everyone said it was - and that's not to say my hopes were too high because they weren't. I like Aaron Sorkin but I thought the cast was dumb before I even saw the movie. It kept my attention, but just barely.
The Social Network is nominated for the following awards: Best Motion Picture-Drama; Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama-Jesse Eisenberg; Best Actor Supporting Role-Andrew Garfield; Best Director; Best Screenplay; Best Original Score. Interesting. I think it deserves Best Screenplay (mostly because I love Aaron Sorkin) and Best Original Score, because the music was awesome throughout the film. It was okay, but I really hope that this isn't one of the best movies of 2010, because I'm in for a long few weeks watching these films.
