Oscar Predictions
The Academy Awards are given out on Sunday, and I’m starting to get pretty excited about it. As always, there are only six awards that really matter, but I’m going to give it a shot and predict all the categories, just to see how I do - but officially I only care about the top six. Here goes…
Best Picture——————-Avatar
Best Actor———————Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart
Best Actress——————-Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side
Best Supporting Actor——-Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds
Best Supporting Actress—–Mo’Nique, Precious
Best Director——————-Kathyn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker (i really want James Cameron)
Best Screenplay—————-The Hurt Locker
Best Adapted Screenplay—–Up in the Air
Best Cinematography———-Avatar
Best Editing———————-The Hurt Locker
Best Art Direction————–Avatar
Best Costume Design———–The Young Victoria (I wish it was Nine, though)
Best Makeup———————Star Trek
Best Original Score————–Michael Giacchino, Up (LOST!)
Best Original Song—————”The Weary Kind,” Crazy Heart
Best Sound Mixing————–The Hurt Locker
Best Sound Editing————–The Hurt Locker
Best Visual Effects—————Avatar
Best Animated Film————-Up (I still think it should be Coraline)
Best Foreign Language Film—-Das weisse Band – Eine deutsche Kindergeschichte
Best Documentary—————The Cove
Best Documentary Short——–The Last Campaign of Governor Booth Gardner (WSU nominee is The Last Truck but they won’t win)
Best Animated Short————-Logorama
Best Live Action Short———–Insallet for abrakadabra
That makes 24 total categories, and I hope I get some of them right. The race between Avatar and The Hurt Locker seems tight this year, which is sad because Avatar is amazing. But whatever. See you Sunday night where I will blog live while watching the show!
