Movies I Saw Yesterday
Last night, Ryan and I watched Ninja Assassin and The Final Destination and here are my thoughts. Both of the films had pretty bad dialogue and were a bit overdramatic, but they were both enjoyable and fun to watch. Ninja Assassin was particularly awesome, especially because you could kind of tell their operating budget probably wasn’t very high. Matrix-like effects, sweet fight choreography, it was great. It was a bit gory for my taste – it would have been just as good without the random spurting blood and decapitations and grossness. But it didn’t really detract from it – after awhile you got used to it. But see the movie if you get the chance – of course, it was predictable, like any movie like this is, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t great. And seriously, who doesn’t love a good ninja movie?
As for The Final Destination, which is the fourth and final one in the series, it was definitely better than I expected. The third one was pretty awful, but the second one has always been one of my favorite movies. This one was a little more like the good ones than the bad. The acting was crazy horrible, and there was no character from the other films or some creepy guy in a morgue telling them about Death and how it’s haunting them. That’s the fun part. Plus, the visions he had showing him how the next person was going to die was lame. And you could tell the parts that were supposed to be 3-D and that was a little irritating. When the girl died in the escalator, though, that rocked. Either way, they were both good and I definitely recommend them.
