LOST theories, etc.
Okay. So the first two episodes of LOST aired last week and I have a few theories and lots of questions. I continue to hope that the show will not end without telling me… something. About something. And that it isn’t aliens or a “who shot JR?” kind of thing. I think the creators know that fans would go fucking crazy, so here’s hoping.
If I’m being honest, the beginning of the premiere worried me because it was bad. BAD. But then Sayid killed a guy on a dishwasher and I slowly started regaining confidence in the new season. I really like the episodes that don’t focus on one person, but at the same time I got way too confused and there was too much information to digest properly. I like that Hurley got the first flashback of the season and I thoroughly enjoyed his flashforwards – although I was surprised he told his mom the truth… but I guess if anyone was going to believe him about everything, it would be the person who experienced the numbers curse along with him. But still. I thought he would tell Cheech instead. I would’ve.
I think that Marvin Candle (or whatever his name is)’s son is Miles. That’s probably racist because I think one is Chinese and the other is Korean (or at least so says Karolyn), but I don’t care. There is time travel on this show. Who the fuck knows what’s going on. But it seems to make sense that Miles would have psychic powers if he grew up right by the space-time continuum. Bloggers have said also that Daniel Faraday’s mom is Mrs. Hawking, which totally makes sense to me and I feel a little stupid for not thinking of that already. There was a reason we didn’t get to hear what his mom’s name was when Daniel was talking to Desmond, and there was a reason Mrs. Hawking showed up at the end of the episode. I think that would be an interesting connection – but will Desmond have any idea where to look for her? Doubtful.
I just read a theory on The Tail Section blog that goes like this: Survivors unstuck in time have the ability to carry objects or people with them through the time jumps if they are touching them, but if the objects/people are not being touched during the NEXT jump, they are stuck forever in that time. If that is true, maybe that explains why Christian Shephard’s body and Claire went missing – it was during a time jump both times. This guy thinks that they were taken way back to when Jacob first came about and now they’re like his helpers (he says minions but that sounds creepy), which is why they show up in the cabin.
I want to learn more about Jacob. I also want another Ben flashback episode. But, alas, I fear I will have to deal with Desmond a lot more than I want to. One good thing is that it looks like Charlotte might be dying soon, and that would be good because I think she is a bad actress and her accent is irritating.
In the back of my mind, I still think it’s purgatory a little. Can’t help it.
