24

When 24 was first on the air, I watched the first season and liked it. After that, my parents kept watching and I gave up on it. Keifer Sutherland largely makes me irritated and if you missed a single episode the whole show was basically ruined. Anyway, Netflix is awesome because they put entire series of shows on the instant queue, which means I can watch them on my computer whenever I want. Shows like Buffy and LOST have all the seasons on there, and it's great. I recently discovered that 24 is one of those shows, and since there is nothing good on TV lately (seriously, nothing), I gave it a shot. This show is like crack. Like, I don't want to do anything but watch this show all the time. I'm on season three right now, and I absolutely love it. I mean, okay, there are some parts that are stupid and I wish that sometimes it was just one storyline instead of four, especially because I usually hate at least one of the storylines (usually with his daughter Kim, lol). One pos...

Golden Globes 2011

The nominations for the Golden Globes have been released, and I am, of course, very excited about it. I have seen almost none of the movies, so I'm going to get started as soon as possible. I just made a list of all the movies that are nominated this year, and it's 28 films, not including the five foreign films. Yikes. And unfortunately, I've only seen Inception and I fell asleep so I need to rewatch it. Oh, and I saw Toy Story 3 - so that's 27 movies to go! Might as well add in the foreign ones, so it's 32 movies left to see! I will say that I'm excite this year because most of the films nominated are ones I've been excited about seeing! Woo! Here goes!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One

I went to see the new installment of the Harry Potter series. For the final book, they decided (rightfully so) to split the book in half and have two separate movies. Ultimately, I think it was a good decision, even if it made the first one insanely boring in parts. Overall, I really liked the movie, but it was definitely not for children. The violence was not for kids, and neither were the themes nor the general plotline. But I suppose if you were 12 or so when the first film came out, it would be appropriate for you because you would have grown up with the story and it wouldn’t be inappropriate. There were definitely some kids in the theatre that I thought shouldn’t be seeing the film, most definitely. I think that Emma Watson (Hermione) has grown up nicely and she is a fairly decent actress. That is really saying something because she was the worst actress in the first few films. Rupert Grint (Ron) was always good from the first film on, and now he has grown up kind of weird looking...

New Computer!

I love having a new computer. I just bought a brand new one with a 23″ monitor, which is awesome and I am totally loving it. The best part is that it has a built-in app for Netflix’s instant queue, and it’s amazing! It’s nice to be able to watch movies and tv and stuff on a giant screen, especially when I feel like watching some stuff that my boyfriend hates… for example, Rock of Love and stuff like that. Which, of course, is what I’m watching right now. Predictable, I know. It’s hilarious! And I also think Bret Michaels is hilarious – I’m not sure why, but I like him even though his music is pretty bad and he has fake hair and is obnoxious. Anyway, hooray for a new computer!

The Hunger Games

I love tween book series. Back in the day it was Babysitter’s Club (which was awesome) and Sweet Valley, and now it’s Twilight and Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. In case you’ve never heard of it, the trilogy is written by Suzanne Collins (extremely scary looking lady in her 40s) and it’s awesome. To be fair, I’ve only read the first in the series, so maybe it starts to suck, but they are wicked popular. The final book came out at the end of August and they’re already talking about making films! Yay! In the first book, the main character is Katniss (lots of dumb names in this book), who lives in post apocalyptic North America. All of North America was separated into thirteen districts with “The Capitol” which is like Big Brother, controlling everything. There was an uprising and The Capitol pwned everyone and even obliterated District 13. So now there are twelve districts, and as a constant reminder that The Capitol owns their asses, they established The Hunger Games. Each person fr...

The Lord of the Rings (i.e. J.K. Rowling sucks)

J.K. Rowling sucks. I love Harry Potter and the whole series, but I have one (actually, several, but whatever) problem with the whole thing. The Lord of the Rings. I haven’t read the books – I tried once but it was like thirty pages about what a tree looks like – but I just saw the first movie, and J.K. Rowling sucks. She ripped off, like, the entire story. From Voldemort not being in full form yet to the horacrux that makes the three of them crazy, basically the entire story is a huge rip off and it makes me irritated. Are people upset about this? Because they should be. Almost everything was taken directly from this story and it’s obnoxious and makes her way less special. OOH and how about when Liv Tyler made the water horses attack those guys? Expecto Patronum much? I mean, for pete’s sake, they even call the big bad guy The Dark Lord!!! Like, you couldn’t come up with something on your own? Here are some more (that I found on the internet because I can’t think that fast): - Frodo l...

My bad.

It has been almost an entire month since I’ve posted, and I blame my job because it’s easy to blame things on. I recently started a bookclub with my sister, and the first book we chose was The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo because I already read it and thought she would enjoy it. We will see. Nothing pop culture related has really been happening. New season of Survivor, etc but nothing outstanding. The Social Network comes out soon, which is a movie about Facebook written by Aaron Sorkin. If you live in a cave, Aaron Sorkin wrote The West Wing which is the greatest show ever, and also wrote A Few Good Men and Sports Night. He is amazing. The movie itself looks pretty bad because the people in it suck, like Justin Timberlake and that douche-y and annoying kid from Zombieland, but I love Aaron Sorkin and the script will be great no matter what. Also, Facebook is awesome so how can they really go wrong? TV has been lame lately, and I’m still watching the train wreck that is the Kardashians...
