Golden Globes!!!

It's that time of year again... that's right, award show season. The Golden Globes nominations came out and, unfortunately, I have only seen one nominated movie, Bridesmaids. I have ten in queue ready to watch, but I have yet to start. I hope there are some gems this year. As far as the television nominations, most of the dramas nominated are on channels I don't get (HBO, SHO, etc), so that sucks, and comedies are just bad nowadays, so those are out too. I have decided to focus on the movies instead, because they are more fun anyway. As usual, I will post reviews (my reviews, not real reviews) of each film as I see them and make predictions based on what I think. I used to also include what will win besides what I think will win, but I'm over that. Who cares what will actually win? It's hardly ever the thing that should win, and dumb Hollywood politics are always involved. I no longer care about my batting average on predicting winners, and instead I am choosing to focus on watching some good movies I normally would never have watched. Look out for my reviews because they will start coming in soon!

Sometimes you read a book you loved and then almost immediately forget everything you just read. Sometimes you read a book you hated and remember it forever. When I read The Girl on the Train , I had to tell everyone how great it was. You Love Me [by Caroline Kepnes]

 When You  was published, it was like nothing I had ever read before, or since, for that matter. I was in the head of Joe Goldberg, an obsessive murdering stalker who made you root for him. And it was amazing. So amazing, that Netflix optioned it and made it into a series, which is equally amazing even if it doesn't follow the book plot the way all of us book nerds would like. Then Caroline Kepnes [who you should really be following on Twitter because she's hilarious] wrote a follow-up, also starring Joe Goldberg, titled Hidden Bodies . Because the first book was so amazing, I had high hopes for the second, which is usually disappointing. And this was too - the book was great, but not as great as the first, and I figured this is where the series would end. The writing was great but the plot was a little too fantastical. Difficult People

Difficult People is the greatest show, and definitely the best Hulu original that has ever existed. Because I'm in my thirties, I assume that anything that isn't a network or cable show shouldn't be trusted. I mean, of course there are the notable exceptions: House of Cards . Okay, that's really it. But still. Anyway, you should be watching Difficult People - everyone should think it's funny, especially if they know me, because they say the kind of garbage I say all the time. It's like if my twitter feed got it's own TV show. I'm not even going to tell you what it's about - just watch the first episode. Anyway, I really wish there was a job where I could watch TV and tell people what I liked and didn't like and that was the whole thing. I would be the greatest at that because I talk a lot of shit about TV I like and also don't like. So maybe I will really try and blog again, only about the TV I watch.
