Terra Nova...
...is an awesome show. It's a new show this fall on FOX, which is scary to think about in the first place. FOX isn't usually that reliable when it comes to programming, but then again, they did have 24. Terra Nova is like LOST meets Jurassic Park. Here's a brief overview: There is a family on Earth that illegally had another child. The law is that families are restrictred to two parents and two children to avoid overpopulation. The planet is also suffering from serious envrinomental problems. Cue Avatar and Fern Gully. Anyway, the family is found out and the dad goes to jail. The actor is from something, but I and IMDB couldn't figure out what I know him from. Anyway, the wife is a doctor, or scientist, or something, and she gets a shot at going to Terra Nova, which isn't really a place and is more back in time. The quickly explain away how the Butterfly Effect doesn't apply, but I will have to watch the episode again to understand better - something about parallel times or something. Very LOST. Anyway, she gets to take her two children, but not her husband or her five-year-old. They work out a plan to get him to escape from prison and bring the kid to Terra Nova. When they get there, it's not like they can do anything about it, I guess.
The leader of the settlement is the cool military guy from Avatar, which is neat because that guy is awesome. Very bad ass John Locke. Anyway, they stick the dad on agricultural detail and he sucks at it. He ends up saving the Avatar guy's life and gets on security detail. There have been seven waves of people going to Terra Nova and there were dissenters in the sixth group called "sixers" (other "others", right?). So they have their own settlement kind of, and that will be interesting. There's also the underlying question of what Terra Nova is really all about, and that should be awesome.
I am also quite impressed by the dinosaurs. I mean, for a tv show it's pretty amazing. I hope the show is popular because it will ensure the CGI is still awesome and will hopefully keep the show going for a few seasons, at least. And this is just after the first episode!!! I like shows that are like watching a movie. It was two hours and I wanted two more. That hardly ever happens. Huzzah!
