THE OSCARS: Part Three

I am currently at 12/13 and they are reading the nominees for Best Visual Effects, which also seems obvious to me because Avatar is so freaking ground breaking. I like that District 9 and Star Trek were also nominated, but come on. And the winner is… Avatar! This was really the award that honored the amazing and groundbreaking stuff they did. And for crying out loud, he thanked James Cameron too! It’s a conspiracy. 13/14. Best Documentary: The Cove which I saw part of and it was great. 14/15. Best Editing – this one could go either way… and the winner is… The Hurt Locker which is suprisingly what I picked. In my opinion, these awards aren’t that important. Not like, say, Visual Effects. 15/16. Best Foreign Language Film: The Secret in the Eyes, which is not what I picked. Damn. Although, I haven’t seen any of these either, but I’ll count this one I guess. 15/17.

Okay, now here are the awards that actually matter. Best Actor. They are talking about each nominee before they announce who wins, which seems stupid because they talk about how awesome each nominee is and then they’re going to be like okay all the rest of you suck except Jeff Bridges. At least, they better say that. And, yes. JEFF BRIDGES! WAHOO!!!! 16/18. Best Actress is next, and I’m banking on Sandra Bullock, although if Meryl Streep wins, that would be cool too. Ugh, here we go again with the speeches about them. And the winner is… SANDRA BULLOCK!!! Hooray! I really love her, even though her outfit and makeup suck. 17/19. Her speech was pretty good too, and I’m sure she had it figured out ahead of time, but it seemed spontaneous.

Alright, here we go with best Director. I really want James Cameron, but I think that Kathryn Bigelow has a better chance. So my official guess is. And the winner is… ooh this is exciting… Kathryn Bigelow. I mean, it’s cool and all that a woman one for the first time, so as long as Avatar wins best picture… I hope so. Anyway, good for her I guess. I picked her, so my record so far is 18/20 with one more award to give out, Best Picture.

Alright, here is the big moment here. Best Picture. And. The. Oscar. Goes. To. The Hurt Locker. Son. Of. A. Bitch. I honestly can’t believe that Avatar didn’t win. I am flabbergasted. As far as I’m concerned, Avatar was one of if not THE most amazing and interesting and groundbreaking movie I have seen so far, and when I saw The Hurt Locker I kind of zoned out for awhile. So that’s that. Goodnight everybody. Angry emails to Academy members will probably begin tomorrow. At least from me, they will. I think I’ll go watch Avatar again, just to remind myself of the awesomeness.
